Bass & Lizard

May 14th & 15th, 2016 Potomac River 3rd & 4th Tournaments.

The third and fourth tournaments of the season on the mighty Potomac are in the books. For the 17 Anglers that braved the waterway, only a few could muster up a plan to defeat the conditions that were thrown their way and bring some Bass to the scales. With blue bird skies and a major cold front that blew in starting off on Saturday, some guys found them and some guys didn't. Only 10 Anglers caught them while 7 brought the skunky smell home for the day. The winds kicked up quite a bit in the late afternoon that brought in a downpour on Saturday, that led to some quarter sized hail in the evening with some very breezy conditions on Sunday. Dont forget to add in the pre-spawn / spawn; those conditions made fishing difficult to say the least. 21 fish were brought to the scales and only one limit. Saturday coming in third place was Dale Bernhart, hooking three largies for 8.86 lbs. Second place went to Chris Knaup, just edging out his boater Dale Bernhart landing 3 bigmouths for 8.89 lbs. First place went to Rookie, Non-Boater Cody Duff, out the back of Fran Girard's Nitro, catching five fish for 15.29 lbs. And the lunker for the day went to Chris Knaup hauling in a nice 4.02 lb largemouth.

Sunday's howling winds made it very difficult for guys to keep their boats in place, let alone properly fish an area. The winds made the waves on the Potomac pretty intense with some 3 foot whitecaps and those guys making runs came back soaking wet. Of the 17 Anglers, only 5 Anglers brought in fish to the scales on Sunday. Quite a few ended the day early due to the conditions. For the second tournament in a row, Rookie Cody Duff took 3rd place and Lunker with a 2.95 Largie. Chris Knaup followed his second place performance on Day one with another 2nd place finish on Day 2. Chris landed 2 fish for 4.64 lbs. First place went to Paul Moyer, on Carl Bernhart's boat, with three nice fish for 7.39 lbs. The BIG LUNKER is still alive, no one coming close to the 6.00 weight. Job well done and congratulations to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
